"All the countries that are unable to get jet fuel, because of the Strait of Hormuz, like the UK... I have a suggestion for you," the president writes.
Trump's first suggestion is that the countries should buy fuel from the U.S. The second is that the countries should build up "a little belated courage," go to the strait and take it over.
"Now you have to start learning to fight for yourself. The United States will not be there to help you anymore, just as you were not there for us. Iran has been largely decimated," the president claims, adding that the countries will be allowed to "get their own oil."
The US and Israel attacked Iran on February 28, without coordination with the NATO defense alliance. After the war with Iran had begun and Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz, which is crucial for oil traffic, Trump urged the world to come forward with efforts and "with enthusiasm" to open sea traffic.
The response from Western capitals was mostly lukewarm and dismissive, prompting Trump to launch an angry attack on NATO - only to later claim that he did not need help.
