The Canadian dollar and the Mexican peso are taking a beating after Bloomberg reported that U.S. President Donald Trump is considering withdrawing from the free trade agreement with Canada and Mexico.

Donald Trump has reportedly recently asked advisers why he should not tear up the agreement with neighboring countries that was signed during his first term as president.

The information comes after U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said Tuesday that bilateral trade talks with Canada and Mexico are planned.

"The Mexicans are pretty pragmatic right now. We've had a lot of discussions with them. With the Canadians, it's more challenging," Greer said in an interview with Fox News.

Just over three-quarters of Canada's exports go to the U.S., and Mexico's trade exposure to the U.S. is also extensive.
