”The Israelis have accepted my terms. It's time for Hamas to accept as well. I have warned Hamas about the consequences of not accepting. This is my final warning, there won't be another one!” the president writes on Truth Social.

The statement comes after Trump said on Friday that the US was talking to Hamas about hostages.

A proposal backed by the US has been presented to Hamas in recent days, according to sources for The Jerusalem Post. The proposal allegedly contains a framework with the goal of putting an end to the war in Gaza.

”Complete withdrawal”

Hamas says in a statement on Sunday evening that they have taken note of the proposal and that the group is ready to ”immediately sit down at the negotiating table to discuss the release of all prisoners", according to Israeli media.

This in exchange "for a clear declaration of getting an end to the war, a complete withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and the creation of a committee to govern the Gaza Strip”, continues Hamas.

According to the proposal, Hamas is to release all remaining hostages, alive and dead, directly. In exchange, Trump personally guarantees that the fighting will not resume while negotiations between Israel and Hamas are ongoing, writes The Jerusalem Post.

Between 2,000 and 3,000 Palestinian prisoners are to be released by Israel, the Israeli offensive in Gaza City is to be halted and talks about a permanent end to the war are to begin.

Israeli forces are to remain in parts of the Gaza Strip during this time.

20 hostages alive

Sources with insight say to The Jerusalem Post that Hamas is unlikely to accept the terms and give up the hostages.

What happens if the negotiations collapse? Then Hamas will have lost all its leverage, says a source.

Hamas is still holding 48 people who were taken as hostages in the attack on Israel in October 2023. 20 of them are believed to be alive.
