The road up to Trollstigen's plateau near Geirangerfjorden was closed last summer after several rockfalls and great danger of landslides. And even if the road is open again now, it is not completely risk-free.
"The immediate measures reduce the risk in the most vulnerable part, but it is not a permanent solution", says Solgunn Langlo, project manager at the county governor's office in the county Møre og Romsdal, in a press release.
Trollstigen, known for its many hairpin curves, is located in a mountain landscape with spectacular views that attract many tourists. Every summer season, around one million people visit the road stretch.
