With just over a month left until the Olympics in Milan and Cortina, the blue and yellow stars were still chasing their slalom form. The Swedes were well on their way to the podium in Kranjska Gora.

Anna Swenn-Larsson was the top Swede, finishing eighth.

The slalom specialist had a great first run in Slovenia, but a costly mistake at the end cost her around a second. Going into the second run she was eighth, 1.28 seconds behind leader Camille Rast of Switzerland, and she finished in the same position.

Decisive mistake

Sara Hector is primarily a giant slalom skier - she won gold in Beijing 2022 - and on Saturday she finished fourth in the discipline in Kranjska Gora. She did this despite having a “very bad cold”, according to Viaplay.

On Sunday, Hector felt a little better, but conditions were tough on the hill and she was 1.62 seconds behind leader Rast before the second run. Hector finished 14th after the second run.

Cornelia Öhlund was in ninth place after the first run but made a costly mistake in the second run, where she crossed her skis and nearly went out. She still finished 15th.

The star's winning streak broken

Mikaela Shiffrin has won five of five World Cup slalom races this season. The American was second after the first run - just a tenth behind Rast, who won Saturday's giant slalom.

Then Shiffrin produced a huge run and put a lot of pressure on Rast, who was last in the race. There was a lot of evidence that Shiffrin's winning streak would last.

However, Rast had other plans, finished strongly and won, 0.14 seconds ahead of Shiffrin.

Estelle Alphand, Hanna Aronsson Elfman and Moa Landström also qualified for the second run and finished 17th, 24th and 25th respectively.
