4–0 became a narrow 4–3 in the end.
This after Calgary, with Rasmus Andersson and Mikael Backlund on the team, was responsible for a huge upset at home against Detroit in last night's NHL.
The comeback began midway through the third period when Joel Farabee scored 1–4 on a penalty. Less than a minute later, Matt Coronato scored 2–4. And when Rasmus Andersson played his way to MacKenzie Weegar's 3–4 goal, the home team looked dangerously close to catching up. However, the Canadians did not get any further than that, their three-game winning streak now broken.
One who once again contributed to Detroit's victory was Swedish defender Axel Sandin-Pellikka, who scored the 2-0 goal with a quick direct shot just over four minutes into the match.
It was the 20-year-old's fifth point in four games.
"An important goal early in the game," Detroit coach Todd McLellan told NHL.com.
His confidence is on the rise, it's really positive to see. It's not an easy thing for a small, young defenseman to come to the NHL and try to get into it right away, but we really believe in him and he seems to be getting better and better with every game.
Lucas Raymond also contributed to the victory with his assist on Dylan Larkin's 4–0 goal.
Detroit now has four wins in its last five games.
