A 21-year-old man is sentenced to 16 years in prison for committing the murder of an elderly man in Åstorp municipality.
The man received a lower sentence since he provided information about other individuals, which led to the clarification of their criminal activities, writes Helsingborg District Court in a press release.
As a result, two men, 20 and 38 years old, are sentenced to life imprisonment for incitement to murder.
The 38-year-old man is sentenced for planning the murder and instructing how it should be carried out. The 20-year-old man is sentenced for accompanying the murderer, showing the location of the planned murder, and ensuring that the murderer was driven by taxi.
The three convicted men will also have to pay damages to the murdered man's relatives.
It was in the beginning of August last year that the man – who was in his 70s at the time – was found shot to death in his home. The police quickly arrested two men, but later suspected that more people were involved.
In total, five people were prosecuted for involvement in the murder. Two of them were acquitted of aiding and abetting murder. One is a woman who let the murderer sleep over at her home the night before the murder. The other is a taxi driver who drove the murderer, writes Helsingborg District Court.
