Foxtrot Leader Sentenced to Life for Conspiracy in Teen Murders

14-year-olds Mohamed and Layth are believed to have been murdered by the Foxtrot network when two pistols disappeared. Now three men are sentenced to life imprisonment. No one is convicted of Layth's murder, but a 33-year-old Foxtrot leader is convicted of conspiracy to both murders. "We'll take them one by one", he wrote to the gang from abroad.

The boys were found murdered in forest areas in Nynäshamn and Upplands-Bro in July and August 2023.

According to the investigation, Mohamed had been murdered with a large number of stab wounds and Layth was probably strangled to death.

The boys themselves are believed to have been involved in Foxtrotnätverket's plans to shoot people linked to Dalennätverket. It ended with them being kidnapped, assaulted and later murdered after being suspected of having stolen or otherwise been involved in the disappearance of two pistols from Foxtrot.

33-year-old

A 33-year-old man has been identified as the driving force behind their murder. He is sentenced to life imprisonment, among other things, for conspiracy to murder the 14-year-olds.

He was charged with incitement to murder, but is not convicted of it since it is not proven that he "provided instructions regarding the execution" of the murders or induced anyone to carry them out. On the other hand, it has been shown that he "together with another or others" was involved in deciding on the murders.

The 33-year-old was living abroad at the time and communicated with the gang in Sweden via encrypted apps. In the preliminary investigation, it can be seen how he directed threats against several other teenagers in Sweden even after the murder of the 14-year-olds.

"Everyone will die. Blood will be spilled until our guns are back", he wrote.

The 33-year-old's lawyer Per Persson says that it has not been decided whether the verdict will be appealed.

It is of course a disappointment that the district court did not share our assessments, he says.

Monstrous

A 31-year-old man is sentenced for having committed the murder of Mohamed, he also receives a life sentence. A third man, 23 years old, receives a life sentence for, among other things, accessory to crime.

The murder is "monstrous and the punishment for that crime cannot be anything other than life imprisonment”, comments the court's chairman Göran Nilsson.

However, no one is sentenced for the murder of 14-year-old Layth.

The 31-year-old is acquitted of this, along with an 18-year-old who was also charged. The court believes that the charge should be dismissed since "it has not been possible to prove where, when or how" Layth died.

Several others are, however, sentenced for other crimes against him, including kidnapping and serious disturbance of the peace of the dead.

Prosecutor Hanna Cardell says that she is largely satisfied with the verdict but that she is considering appealing the part that concerns the murder of Layth.

We think that we have evidence that could be enough for a conviction.

The 31-year-old who was sentenced to murder will also likely appeal, according to his lawyer Rasmus Reinerstam.

It is of course a disappointment that the client, despite his denial, has been convicted of one of these murders and that he has received a life sentence.
