Paul Thomas Anderson's new action drama with Leonardo DiCaprio comes to the cinema and in SVT spreads vampire horror on a Finland ferry. Here are this week's films and series.

Acclaimed director Paul Thomas Anderson's new film is many things at once, a socially satirical action thriller with Leonardo DiCaprio as an overwintered left-wing activist. When his daughter (Chase Infiniti) is taken by migration agents, he must find his old friends to rescue her.

Stellan Skarsgård has been praised for the role of the deposed director Gustav, whose strained relationship with his daughter Nora (Renate Reinsve) does not improve when he wants to make a big film about their family trauma. Joachim Trier directs the film with Elle Fanning in one of the supporting roles.

New York thriller about a fixer (Riz Ahmed) whose analog methods help journalists get in touch with whistleblowers. But it becomes dangerous when his latest client (Lily James) is threatened.

Two vampires instill fear in a Finland ferry full of passengers who can neither escape nor alert – because contact with the mainland has been broken. 13-year-old Kolbjörn Skarsgård plays the lead role in the series based on Mats Strandberg's novel. Comes to SVT1 on September 29.

There is a lot of sex in unexpected constellations and dark secrets in the summer's big American cult success. Newcomer Sophie (Brittany Snow) is drawn into the housewife gang Hunting Wives and gets a close relationship with the charismatic Margo (Malin Åkerman).

Comedy series with Hollywood star Glen Powell as a failed sports guy whose career in American football ended in disaster. To take revenge, he changes his identity and starts over at college.

”Solsidan” (1/10, TV4 Play+).

When the season begins, Anna (Mia Skäringer) moves in with Alex (Felix Herngren) again, which is not entirely uncomplicated. The series is now released behind a paywall and comes to TV4 on October 15.

Like ”Succession” but about beer. When patriarch Benjamin Guinness dies in 1868, a struggle for inheritance ensues at the same time as nationalist winds are blowing up to a storm in Ireland. Steven Knight, the man behind ”Peaky Blinders”, is the creator of the miniseries.
