Betrayal, lies and large sums of money are at stake. "The Traitors" are back with a fourth season. For the first time, ordinary participants have been able to apply to the reality mystery, which has created a new dynamic at Häringe castle.

I got so many knives in the back during this program that I still have band-aids on my back that are healing, says Alexander Pärleros who runs "Framgångspodden".

The entrepreneur had hoped that his large network of contacts and ability to get close to people would help build loyalty within the castle. One of his close acquaintances was, for example, Isabella Löwengrip.

As I thought this would be, it didn't quite turn out that way, says Pärleros.

"Slaughter you"

Now he has recovered from the recording, but admits that it was very stressful while it was going on. It was about handling herd mentality on a completely new level.

Either you get totally "killed" by a gang or you get kicked out in a way where people hang you out in front of 10-15 cameras in front of the whole Swedish people and totally go on and slaughter you, he says.

"A bit tough"

This year's season has for the first time allowed non-celebrities to apply to the program. One of them is the robotics engineer Janina Udiljak, who has long been a fan of games with psychological challenges, such as "Mafia" and "Werewolf". Udiljak describes how the recording swung between super fun and super tough.

We are friends with people in there for real, so it feels a bit tough when you have to stab someone in the back. But it's also a game, so it's good that we could separate that and play pretty hard because everyone is very nice, says Udiljak.

Rebecca "Pumahjärta" Jansson also applied to the program. She is a medium in everyday life, which partly made it easier in the game.

I'm good at sensing people: if someone is lying to me, if someone is genuine or something like that. But it was harder than I thought. It's very unnatural.

"Pumahjärta" had no particular strategy in the game.

Then I couldn't really be myself and go on this medial feeling if you think too much about it. So, therefore, I always take situations as they come and it has worked well so far in life, she says.

"Förrädarna" has its season premiere on October 28 in TV4 Play and TV4.

Based on a Dutch concept, "De verraders". Available in several other international versions.

First aired in 2023, when Katia Mosally won as the only traitor. She now leads the after-talk program "Gravkammaren". The second season was won by the traitors Kelda Stagg, Nadim Ghazale and Thomas Bodström. The third season was won by Samir Badran and Kaeli Abdi.

The game is about 20 more or less well-known people being locked in a castle, where some of them are appointed as "traitors" while the rest are "loyal". Each night, the traitors can kill a loyal one, but the participants also get to vote out someone together once a day at the "round table". In addition, there are competitions where the participants together try to increase the winnings.
