Neither Liverpool, Arsenal nor Chelsea managed to win during the weekend's Premier League round.
But Anthony Elanga's Nottingham seems almost unstoppable on the football pitch at the moment. After Monday's 3-0 win at Molineux Stadium, the team is up to as many points, 40 in total, as second-placed Arsenal. Only Liverpool, six points ahead, has collected more.
Blue-yellow assist
Away against Wolverhampton, it didn't even take seven minutes before the zero was broken, and Elanga was highly involved.
Morgan Gibbs-White, trained in Wolverhampton itself, came storming in a lightning-fast counterattack, played the ball out to Elanga, who then sent it back to Gibbs-White, who scored 1-0.
The home team had bids on equalizing several times, and it was a minor miracle that Norwegian striker Jørgen Strand Larsen didn't find the right target. Nottingham goalkeeper Matz Sels made a couple of brilliant saves in the first half, and in the end, Strand Larsen could only shake his head at the misfortune.
Just before the break, Nottingham made it 2-0 after another quick attack. Callum Hudson-Odoi sprinted easily past Wolverhampton defender Matt Doherty on the left flank and played a diagonal pass back to Chris Wood, who could steer in his 12th goal of the season.
In the final seconds of the match, Taiwo Awoniyi set the final score at 3-0.
Pereira's first defeat
While Nottingham's winning streak continues, Wolverhampton's coach Vítor Pereira felt for the first time since his arrival what it's like to lose. Until Monday, "Wolves" had two wins and one draw since Pereira's arrival.
Nottingham Forest took their only league title in the 1977-78 season. As recently as last season, the team was back in the English top league after spending 23 consecutive seasons in lower divisions.
