Henrik Harlaut is making a comeback in the World Cup. The 34-year-old has been selected for the first big air competition of the season.

Harlaut paused his competition after his bronze medal at the 2022 Beijing Olympics. Even before last season, Harlaut planned to make his return to competition, but then suffered a hip injury that kept him out of the sport for another year.

But after a three-year absence, Harlaut is now ready to compete again, at the World Cup competition in Secret Garden, China.

"It feels good. It feels like it's really time, I've been waiting a long time to get started and ride," Harlaut tells the Swedish Ski Association in a press release.

It will also be the first competition of the season for all men's skiers, after last weekend's premiere in Stubai was cancelled.

Harlaut doesn't want to have too high expectations, but hopes to collect enough qualifying points to make it to the Olympics in Milano-Cortina in February.

"There are a few competitions left so it's not over if things don't go exactly as I want at this first competition. But of course I'll do everything I can to make it go as well as possible," says Harlaut.

The World Cup competitions in Secret Garden begin on Friday. Martin Nordqvist is also competing for Sweden.
