On Monday, Iba announced that it will sue the IOC, after Algeria's Imane Khelif and Taiwan's Lin Yu-Ting were allowed to compete in last year's Olympic Games in Paris.
In a statement, Iba says it will turn to the Swiss Federal Prosecutor's Office to take legal action against the IOC. Iba adds that it will do the same in both France and the USA.
The announcement from Iba comes just days after US President Donald Trump signed a presidential decree that bans transgender people from competing in women's and girls' sports in the USA. According to the decree, transgender people, born as men, are excluded from participating in girls' and women's sports and are not allowed to use locker rooms intended for women.
President Trump's order to ban transgender people from women's sports validates Iba's efforts to protect the integrity of female athletes, says Russian Iba chief Umar Kremlev according to AFP.
Both Khelif and Lin were born as women and are not transgender. They were excluded from competing in the World Championship 2023, as Iba claimed they did not pass a gender test, but the IOC said the test was not valid and gave both boxers the green light in the Olympic Games, where both won gold.
