After weak performances during the Swedish premiere in Gällivare, Jens Burman, who is part of the Swedish national cross-country team, has not been selected for the World Cup.
In the 20 kilometer classic in the Scandinavian Cup, Burman had the chance to show that he should definitely be on a World Cup squad, but the 31-year-old missed out on that chance.
Burman finished in 47th place, over 3 minutes behind winner Didrik Tønseth, Norway.
"The only thing you can say is that it went to hell, you can't pull any other gears out of it. It happened," Burman says afterwards.
The Åsarna skier suspects that weak material underfoot was the culprit.
"I felt right from the start that this wasn't going to work. My body felt good, but I don't think I had the best conditions today," says Burman.
The best Swede in the race was Fredrik Andersson in twelfth place.
"I am very satisfied, I can't say anything else. The Norwegians are incredibly good," Andersson says in Expressen's broadcast.
On the women's side, big sister Ebba Andersson, who is leading the World Cup competitions in Davos this weekend, was the overwhelming winner.
