In the evening of December 16, a 30-year-old woman was injured in a shooting in a multi-family house in the Teleborg district of Växjö. She was taken to the hospital, but her life could not be saved. A 30-year-old man was lightly injured in the shooting.

The man arrested in Turkey has been detained in absentia by Malmö District Court as a suspect, among other things, for instigation of the murder of the woman and attempted murder of the man. He is also suspected of instigation of aggravated weapons offense and involvement of minors in crime in connection with the shooting in Växjö.

Teenagers detained for murder

A 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl, both detained in December, are suspected of having carried out the murder of the woman. Furthermore, a 28-year-old man is detained as a suspect for aiding and abetting murder and attempted murder.

The man arrested in Turkey is suspected of instigation of further crimes, including an attempted murder in Malmö in August and an explosion at an outdoor café in central Malmö in August.

Moreover, the man is suspected of preparing a murder in Malmö at the beginning of September.

Arrested by special task force

According to Turkish media, he arrived in Turkey from Morocco on January 7. He was then tracked and monitored by Turkish police until a special task force arrested him in Bodrum in southwestern Turkey on January 17.

Håkan Wall, head of the international unit at the National Operational Department (Noa), has previously told TT that the man is part of the Swedish criminal environment "where severe violence is exercised".
