From the EU, it may become relevant to introduce a tax on Chinese e-commerce giants such as Temu and Shein, writes Financial Times.
It was one of the reasons why the Swedish clothing giant H&M's stock rose 3.1 percent on the Stockholm Stock Exchange on Wednesday, writes Dagens industri.
The tax on the Chinese companies is being considered as a consequence of the number of packages having increased sharply in recent years. It has also been revealed that certain imported products do not meet environmental and safety requirements, including toys.
According to Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic, it is estimated that four billion packages will be delivered from China to EU countries, writes the newspaper, i.e. three times as many as in 2022. Only Amsterdam's airport handles 3.5 million packages daily, in other words 40 packages per second.
