Even against the krona, the dollar rises a few ören, to 11.08-11.09 kronor per dollar. This would be the weakest exchange rate against the dollar since November 2023 if the rate holds.
The dollar has been even more expensive in spot prices during trading days, calculated in kronor, several times recently, including in the early morning trading on December 18 last year, when it cost a maximum of 11:13 kronor.
The krona strengthens simultaneously a few ören against the euro, which takes a hit due to market anxiety about the economic development in the eurozone and the significant monetary policy differences between the European Central Bank (ECB) and the US central bank Federal Reserve (Fed). The market expects the ECB to pursue a softer monetary policy line than the Fed going forward, which affects the currency market.
Fears of negative effects on the eurozone's large export-dependent economies from the tariffs that the incoming US President Donald Trump has hinted at also contribute to the downward pressure on the euro.
