Djurgårdens six matches long winning streak was broken by a stinging defeat in the Stockholm derby.
Hammarby handed out a real thrashing.
The organizer behind the 3-0 win and, as often in the derby: Nahir Besara.
Early on, the main characters took center stage in the hot Tele2 derby in Allsvenskan: Djurgården's substitute Theo Bergvall, 19, and Hammarby's veteran Besara, 33.
This is what happened, within a few minutes:
Bergvall replaced early knee-injured Pjotr Johansson. The first thing he did was to trip up Bazoumana Touré, who had been played through by Besara. Referee Mohammed Al-Hakim blew his whistle, pointed to the penalty spot and warned Bergvall.
Besara stepped forward, who had just been extremely close to scoring an own goal but was lucky enough to hit his own goalkeeper Oliver Dovin. Besara placed the ball safely behind Jacob Widell Zetterström after a quarter of an hour.
Everything else except the derby debut young Bergvall had hoped for when he was sent onto the pitch.
Youth Lucas played his last derby at the time. In the last Allsvenskan match for the time being (?) before the move to Tottenham, he contributed to the Bergvall family's miserable Sunday.
His careless tackle not only earned a yellow card, but also paved the way for Nahir Besara's free kick specialist. The cunningly kicked, bouncing free kick from 30 meters slipped into Widell Zetterström's right corner.
2-0 to Hammarby after 28 minutes, Besara's fourth and fifth goal of the season – and game over for Djurgården?
No, the team that went into the derby with six consecutive wins did not count out the remaining 60 minutes plus stoppage time.
Lucas Bergvall was extremely close to reducing the deficit when Djurgården increased the pressure and forced strongly before halftime.
Instead, Bazoumana Touré scored 3-0 halfway through the second half, and then – if not before – Djurgården was a defeated team.
Hammarby rolled over and won, and with the victory, they moved past Gais and are now fourth in the series, which will now take a five-week break. The winner at Tele2 arena was also Malmö FF. The lead to second-placed Djurgården is now seven points. MFF has played an extra match.
