Prior to the referendum on EU membership in 2016, a return to earlier times' units of measurement was discussed in the United Kingdom – including pints for measuring liquids.
It is still used, even though the country switched to the metric system in 1965, where liters are used.
However, there have been speculations lately that the current Labour government would ban the measure and thereby ban pubs from selling pints.
But now the government is supporting a proposal to allow the use of pints for beer, cider, and milk. The proposal received the green light from the House of Lords on Thursday.
The government has absolutely no plans to change the rules regarding the use of the pint measure. The pint is safe with us, says Lord Sonny Leong from Labour to Euronews.
