Germany has tightened its grip on victory in its group in the A division of the Nations League. This thanks to the home win against the Netherlands – and debutant Jamie Leweling.
The Stuttgart midfielder made his first A-national team appearance for Germany at the Allianz Arena in Munich and in the 64th minute, the 23-year-old also scored his first national team goal.
On a corner, Leweling got a lucky bounce in front of his feet and could thunder in the only goal of the match into the cross.
The win means that Germany stands on ten points after three wins and one draw in group 3. The Netherlands is second on five points. Hungary also has five points after a 2–0 win against Bosnia-Herzegovina (one point).
In group 1, there was a win for France away against Belgium with 2–1. Kolo Muani scored both goals for the French, one of which was a penalty.
Italy, which beat pointless Israel 4–1, tops the group on ten points. One point ahead of France and six ahead of Belgium.
