The three Olympic-selected goalkeepers are New Jersey's Jacob Markström and Minnesota players Filip Gustavsson and Jesper Wallstedt.
"We are very happy with what 'Jeppe' Wallstedt and Filip Gustavsson are doing in Minnesota. We know that one of them is playing all the time, they try to alternate the goalies, so we have two goalies in play who are doing very well in a team that is also playing well at the moment," says Hallam and continues:
With "Markan" we also feel that we are getting both a personality and a goalkeeper that we all have great respect for, so we are very happy with the three goalkeepers we have chosen.
Ullmark on break
Linus Ullmark has taken a break from playing for his club team, Ottawa, for personal reasons. But Ullmark would not have been available even if he had played.
"His break has actually not affected us. I didn't know about it. We had already selected our team and announced it, both to the three who are involved and to Linus, when I found out about it — that Ullmark is taking a break. So I don't have any more information about it, unfortunately," says Hallam.
Defender Victor Hedman has had elbow surgery and is not playing with his club team Tampa Bay at the moment. The 35-year-old has himself expressed some concern about his availability for the Olympics.
"I'm worried all the time. If the man himself says it, maybe we should trust it," says Hallam.
Hedman on ice
The national team captain cannot provide an exact status update regarding Hedman.
"But the advantage of his injury is that he can be on the ice and really skate at his best and go through hard intervals. So with an upper-body injury, he can really push himself in skating."
Players like Simon Edvinsson, Mikael Backlund and Marcus Johansson are not in the squad.
"There are some tough decisions and I understand how annoyed and disappointed you get if you end up on the wrong side of the line, but we are here to focus on the 25 who are on the right side," says Hallam.
The Milan-Cortina Olympics will be held in February.
