The Attorney General (RÅ) will not request a review in the Supreme Court of the Knutby case. At present, there is no reason for the Attorney General to take any action, says Chief Prosecutor Mats Svensson at RÅ to SVT.

The so-called nanny's lawyer, Johan Eriksson, has announced that he intends to request a retrial in the Knutby case in the Supreme Court. This is due to the information that has emerged from Aftonbladet's investigation into the murder of the pastor's wife in Knutby in 2004, where the question is raised whether it was really the nanny who fired the fatal shots.

In addition to the convicted person, the Public Prosecutor can request a retrial in the Supreme Court. Public Prosecutor Elin Blank, who led the murder investigation, announced on Wednesday that she will not initiate any retrial application. And since the defense is expected to request a retrial, the Supreme Court will not act.

The prosecutor has looked at the information and largely concludes that there are no new circumstances, says Mats Svensson, who handles restitution cases at RÅ.

Svensson further says about a possible request for a raise from the defense:

I assume that a skilled lawyer like Johan Eriksson does not apply for a raise based on material in a report, but that he himself goes through the preliminary investigation and sees whether the information in the report is correct or not.

On January 10, 2004, the wife of pastor Helge Fossmo was found murdered in the couple's home in the small community of Knutby outside Uppsala. In the neighboring house, a 30-year-old man was found shot. Fossmo was later sentenced to life imprisonment for incitement to murder and attempted murder. A woman, called the nanny, who carried out the acts, received forensic psychiatric care.

The incident also drew attention to the Philadelphia congregation to which Fossmo belonged. Information gradually emerged about the group's special interpretation of the Bible, where the concept of the bride of Christ was interpreted as meaning a person – a woman in the Knutby congregation.

Helge Fossmo's sentence was later commuted and he has been on parole for a few years now. Barnflickan was released in 2011.
