Daniel Sundgren experienced rigged football matches during his time in Greek Volos. He tells this in the podcast Lundh. Now Volos claims that they have sued the Swede. "Shame on you, Sundgren," the club writes in a statement.

The former national team defender, now in Degerfors, says that the directives came from senior figures in the club.

As an example, Sundgren mentions the meetings between Volos and Panserraikos in the spring relegation series. The teams each won their meeting 3–0 – and both managed to stay in the top league.

In the locker room before the match, we were told that "today you are not going to take the ball" and "today he and he will be brought down in the penalty area, so we will get a penalty with us," Sundgren tells the Lundh podcast.

"Couldn't open my mouth"

The 34-year-old, who emphasizes that he himself was not involved in fixing results, says that he talked about it with other players on the team.

Then you couldn't open your mouth to those who made the decisions, they're the ones who pay the salary, after all. But it's clear that you went out and felt ashamed like a dog.

Volos is now attacking the Swede and calling Sundgren's statements false and unfounded.

“Inexplicable”

"We would like to inform that Volos FC has already filed a lawsuit against him so that the person in question can be brought to trial in a Greek court and prove what he claims by presenting concrete evidence," Volos writes.

Furthermore, Sundgren's actions are called "inexplicable" and "shameful" and the club sends a clear final message in the statement:

"Shame on you, Sundgren."

After last season, Daniel Sundgren left Volos to return to Degerfors in July.

When I returned home to Degerfors and landed in Sweden, I had to go to the hospital on the first day. I had such a lump in my stomach and I had a real anxiety attack.
