Since Elon Musk's electric car giant refused to sign a collective agreement, Tesla has ended up in conflict with the Swedish trade unions. Despite the blockade, the municipal harbor company in Trelleborg extended its rental agreement with Tesla for a 13,000 square meter large premises.
I can't interpret it in any other way than that they're facilitating for Tesla, and that the company wants to get its hands on the millions that are at stake, says Jörgen Wärja, chairman of Transport in Trelleborg's harbor, to Dagens Arbete.
The part that Tesla was already renting before the conflict broke out has not been criticized by the trade union.
It's voluntary which agreements you enter into, and the harbor company didn't have to enter into this agreement with Tesla. That they don't stand up more for the Swedish model is bloody strange, says IF Metall's vice chairman Tomas With to the newspaper.
Jörgen Nilsson, CEO of the harbor, sees no problems:
We rent out premises outside the harbor's operational area. Just like we do to many others.
The chairman of the municipal council, Mathias Andersson (SD), believes that politics should not hinder companies from doing business.
We should protect the Swedish model. At the same time, there must be some sense and reason, he says.
