The boy with the knife, who was 16 years old when the crime was committed on September 2, 2025, is also convicted of domestic violence.

"It has been shown that XX armed himself with a knife and went to the plaintiff's residential address with the intention of killing Arvin Khoshnood," the court states, but it does not believe that the incident meets the evidentiary requirements for attempted murder. The boys are therefore convicted of preparation for murder.

Arvin Khoshnood, who was born in Iran and fled with his parents in the 1980s, is convinced that the Iranian regime wanted to silence a critical voice.

"These guys most likely had no information that this was a political assassination attempt," he says.

Lives in a secret location

According to information provided to SVT, a high-ranking gang leader can be linked to the alias that ordered the attempted murder via the encrypted chat Signal. The man has both Swedish and Iranian citizenship and is reported to have fled to Iran, where he now works for the Iranian regime.

The information emerged after the trial was concluded, and prosecutor Per-Erik Rinsell has previously said that he can neither confirm nor deny that foreign powers were involved.

"As for investigating who is behind the alias, Tartarus, and whether we can get hold of him, that is in another investigation. It would be outright misconduct for me to talk about it," says Rinsell.

Arvin Khoshnood himself has been living in secret since the incident.

"The verdict is significant for me and my family and shows how seriously the justice system takes what happened. But it doesn't solve our security problem," he says.

Khoshnood wants the government to act.

"As long as the Iranian regime is in power, these types of terrorist attacks will continue," he says.

Involved in shooting

Another boy is convicted of aiding and abetting murder. He was sentenced to closed juvenile detention and had previously been sentenced to juvenile detention. A fifth boy is also convicted of violating the Knife Act.

The same boys are also convicted of involvement in a shooting in Uddevalla on September 10, when one person was shot but survived. However, beyond the perpetrators involved, the events are not connected, prosecutor Per-Erik Rinsell has previously said.
