The book, which contains images from the tour and personal reflections from the pop star, was released on Black Friday and is only sold through the Target retail chain in the USA. And despite other retailers being turned down, and fans complaining about spelling mistakes and other errors in the book, Swift fans were not slow to open their wallets.
According to the measurement company Circana, which follows around 85 percent of the market for printed books, 814,000 copies of the book were sold during the first weekend.
The only larger launch in the non-fiction genre was the first edition of Barack Obama's autobiography "A Promised Land", which sold 816,000 copies during the first launch week in 2020. But Obama's book was available through all major stores, and Circana's statistics for Swift's book only apply to the first weekend.
