It is the retail chain Target that announces that they will be open specially after midnight on October 3, when Taylor Swift's new album is released, writes Variety.
The album "The life of a showgirl" is not only being released digitally - Swift has also announced both physical standard editions and exclusive vinyl variants.
Keeping stores open at night to allow fans to quickly get their hands on new releases was a common phenomenon in the 80s and 90s, before streaming platforms made their entrance. However, Swift's fan base is so large that they expect it to be well worth reviving the phenomenon.
Interest in the new album is already enormous, as it usually is when it comes to Swift. Her latest album, "The tortured poets department" from 2024, was streamed 300 million times on Spotify in one day and one billion times in five days - which is a record.
"The life of a showgirl" is Swift's twelfth in order. The album was recorded in Sweden together with the Swedish star producers Max Martin and Karl Johan "Shellback" Schuster. The twelve new songs are expected to be about, among other things, everything that happened while she was touring the world with the massive tour "The eras tour".
