The forecast increase is explained by stronger-than-expected demand, according to Tsai Yu-tai, head of statistics at the Directorate General of Budget Affairs in Taipei.
An export increase of 22.2 percent is also forecast, compared with a previous forecast of 6.3 percent for exports in 2026.
During the fourth quarter of last year, growth totaled 12.6 percent. This implies full-year 2025 growth of 8.7 percent, compared with the expected 8.6 percent.
Growth in the first quarter of this year is expected to rise to 11.5 percent.
