The background concerns a financial transaction in 2011 of two million Swiss francs (nearly 23 million kronor in today's exchange rate) that took place between the then football tops.
The duo was acquitted of the allegations in 2022, but the verdict was appealed to a Swiss court. In March, they were acquitted again.
Platini, who was then chairman of the European Football Association (Uefa), has always claimed that he received the money for consulting services he performed for the International Football Association (Fifa). The consulting services were approved by Sepp Blatter, who was then Fifa's chairman.
After the corruption allegations became known in 2015, the two had to leave their positions.
In a statement, the Swiss prosecutors say they accept the verdict from March and thus "close another chapter in the complex procedures linked to football".
