With a month to go until the Olympic Games opening ceremony, the Swedish team is growing and now stands at 110 active athletes.
A skateboarder, a hammer thrower, three golfers, and a group of swimmers are among the newcomers to the team.
A further eleven athletes can now plan for a trip to Paris. The latest additions to the Olympic team are:
+ Golfers Maja Stark, Linn Grant, and Alex Norén.
"Together with already selected Ludvig Åberg, we have a very strong Swedish Olympic golf team that will compete in Paris", says the Swedish team leader Peter Reinebo in a press release.
+ Swimmers Sara Junevik, Sofia Åstedt, Hanna Rosvall, Robin Hanson, Isak Eliasson, and Elias Persson. They will take part in the four relay teams that have qualified.
"It's great that we have so many relay teams in swimming. We're going with a strong swimming team of 13 people", says Reinebo.
+ Hammer thrower Ragnar Carlsson.
+ Skateboarder Hampus Winberg.
Winberg was tenth in the World Championship last year and a big future promise in the park discipline. Carlsson becomes the 16th track and field athlete to get the green light after recording 77,57.
"We hope Hampus and Ragnar will be able to perform now in Paris, but also in future games", says Peter Reinebo.
The Swedish team now consists of almost as many individual athletes as in Tokyo 2021. Three years ago, the Olympic team had 137 names. Then, the women's football national team with 22 players was included.
On Saturday, the equestrian riders in show jumping, dressage, and eventing will be selected. This concerns three riders in each team plus one reserve.
The entire Olympic team will be finalized on July 3, and then the Swedish Olympic Committee will announce its medal target.
The Olympic Games in Paris open on July 26.
