Emissions of greenhouse gases linked to the Swedish economy rose by 5.8 per cent last year compared to the previous year. The largest increase in emissions occurred within the transport industry and from private consumption, according to annual statistics from Statistics Sweden (SCB).
In total, this means an increase in greenhouse gas emissions of 2.8 million tonnes and Statistics Sweden writes in a press release that the increase in emissions can primarily be attributed to increased deliveries of fossil diesel. This is connected to the changed reduction obligation, which was implemented from January onwards.
