Sweden's gross national product (GNP) fell by 0.2 percent in May compared to April, according to a preliminary so-called GNP indicator from the Statistical Central Bureau (SCB).
"The Swedish economy slowed down somewhat in May, weighed down by lower production among the business sector's service producers and in public authorities. Seen from the economy's use side, the development was explained, among other things, by declines in household consumption and a weakening of the goods trade net", says Mattias Kain Wyatt, national economist at SCB, in a press release.
Expected, according to a compilation from Bloomberg, was just a decline of 0.2 percent. In April, the GNP indicator rose 0.4 percent. Calendar-adjusted GNP was 0.5 percent higher in May 2025 compared to May last year.
