It was after the top meeting between Rosenborg and Viking in the Norwegian top league on Sunday that scandalous scenes broke out. When the final signal had gone, the home player Adrian Pereira and Viking player Zlatko Tripic got into a fight, which got people from all sides to get involved.
One of them was Marcus Tjärnberg, who is assisting the Swedish head coach Alfred Johansson in Rosenborg. Tjärnberg put a chokehold on Tripic.
Now the Norwegian Football Association is suspending Tjärnberg for six matches.
The disciplinary board writes, for example, in its decision that it is an aggravating circumstance that the player has his back turned to Tjärnberg and "thus could not defend himself".
Tjärnberg has afterwards apologized.
My behavior is unacceptable, the Swede said to NRK.
Also Rune Repvik, who is part of Viking's coaching staff, is being punished and suspended for three matches for his involvement in the tumult.
