+ How it works

The league stage is played as a basic series with 36 teams, where each team meets eight different opponents. The top eight teams in the basic series qualify directly for the round of 16, while teams ranked 9–24 meet in the round of 32.

+ Swedes

Viktor Gyökeres (Arsenal), Isak Hien (Atalanta), Daniel Svensson (Borussia Dortmund), Roony Bardghji (Barcelona), Samuel Dahl (Benfica), Gustaf Nilsson (Club Brygge), Viktor Claesson, Jordan Larsson (FC Köpenhamn), Hugo Larsson (Eintracht Frankfurt), Jonas Rouhi (Juventus), Alexander Isak (Liverpool), Emil Krafth, Anthony Elanga (Newcastle), Ken Sema (Pafos), Lucas Bergvall (Tottenham)

+ Favorites

The big favorites to win the trophy are the most champion Real Madrid, the reigning champion Paris SG, Liverpool, Barcelona and Arsenal. Pep Guardiola's Manchester City should not be forgotten either.

Three of the main favorites have a Swedish player, and only seven Swedes have previously won the Champions League/European Cup. The last one was Henrik Larsson in 2006 with Barcelona.

+ Debutants

When Bodø/Glimt enters the tournament on Wednesday, the team will be the northernmost so far to play in the Champions League. They are also the first team from an Arctic city. Also Cypriot Pafos, Belgian Union SG and Kazakh Kairat Almaty make their debut.

+ When it's decided

The final will be played on May 30 at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest, Hungary, at 18.00.
