But there are bright spots, notes the SCB. For at the same time, the employment rate, i.e. the number of employed in relation to the population, increased from 68.8 percent in February to 68.9 percent in March. And unemployment is decreasing among young people.

"The labor market is still showing signs of restraint and the number of unemployed is increasing, seasonally adjusted and smoothed", says Philip Krantz, statistician at the Labor Force Surveys at the SCB, in a press release.

In parallel, the Employment Service also measures unemployment, based on the number of actually registered unemployed. Then, unemployment was 7.1 percent in March, slightly lower than in February.

The SCB's figures are based on statistics where a certain number of thousand people have been asked about their situation on the labor market.
