Ayari had his feet and his dazzling football brain in most of the best things.
He was behind the dream opening at Stadion Stozice, and also fixed the dream opening in the World Championship qualifying match.
Ayari broke into the penalty area, nudged the ball forward to Anthony Elanga. The 23-year-old showed remarkable calm when he held back with the finish, got around his defenders and scored the opening goal - his fifth national team goal - with his right foot.
If he hadn't done it, Alexander Bernhardsson would have gotten the goal, ready with his left foot as he was.
It looked for a while like the Holstein Kiel Swede was last on the ball. Anyway, the breach was shot into the notoriously strong Slovenian defensive wall - and that already after 18 minutes.
It could have been different early in the game, but in some strange way, Petar Stojanovic missed, free with Robin Olsen.
Ayari given
Dahl Tomasson's 18 months of team building seemed during the first 45 minutes to pass the final inspection without major comments. And that without players like Alexander Isak, Dejan Kulusevski, and Victor Nilsson Lindelöf.
Hugo Larsson once again showed that one of the central midfield positions is now his.
Ayari is given as a midfield spearhead. The low-key 21-year-old does not doubt his ability, at least not, and carries an enormous fighter's heart.
But where will Jon Dahl Tomasson place the red-hot Elanga in a team where Alexander Isak takes a place? In midfield, it's crowded, to say the least.
First competitive match
Bernhardsson, in his first competitive national team match, performed as if he had been a blue and yellow member for years. And on the other side, Daniel Svensson provided necessary defensive balance.
Both will be difficult to remove after the performances in Ljubljana. The question is whether it's not more tricky for "JDT" to keep Elanga out. The likelihood that Isak will remain on the bench in Pristina increased significantly.
The team that makes the fewest mistakes usually wins football matches. Unfortunately, Robin Olsen made his biggest blunder during his long national team career.
Already 38 seconds into the second half, he let Sandi Lovric's long-range shot slip through his hands.
The initiative swung with a certain Slovenian superiority.
Equalizer in the 90th minute
Elanga and Bernhardsson stepped off after just over an hour, but Isak had to stay on. In came Benjamin Nygren and Niclas Eliasson.
It was on its way to a draw when Ayari forced himself forward and scored the opening goal behind the world goalkeeper Jan Oblak, Atlético Madrid.
But it didn't hold. Zan Vipotnik forced in the equalizer in the 90th minute.
The World Championship qualifying match continues on Monday, against a Kosovo that lost 0-4 to Switzerland. The national team stays in Ljubljana and trains there on Saturday and Sunday.
