The initiative involves transporting Ukrainian grain to countries in Africa and Asia where the need for food is greatest. The implementing partner for the initiative is the UN's Food Programme (WFP), and the support will be paid out.
"Through 'Grain from Ukraine', Ukrainian grain reaches the parts of the world where the shortage of food is greatest. This is a 'win-win situation' and an important task for the government to continue supporting," says Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Benjamin Dousa (The Moderate Party) in a press release.
Most recently, at the end of October, the government decided on another support package to Ukraine for the same amount. Then, among other things, 50 million went to the Red Cross for efforts for the civilian population.
With the new support package included, the government has a total of donated 710 million kronor to the initiative "Grain from Ukraine".
