The Swedish World Championship gold medals continue to pour in, and the pulse after Ebba Andersson's new success has barely had time to settle before it's time to look ahead.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, the sprint relay for both men and women awaits, and on the women's side, Sweden is the reigning World Champion. In 2023, in Slovenian Planica, Jonna Sundling and Emma Ribom brought home the gold.
But this year, Sundling, who opted out of Tuesday's 15km race, gets a new teammate. Ribom is dropped, and instead, Maja Dahlqvist gets the chance in the sprint relay.
"The world's best sprinter"
And the expectations are sky-high, according to national team manager Anders Byström.
We have the world's best sprinter in Jonna Sundling and the world's best finisher in Maja Dahlqvist, so it feels incredibly exciting.
The toughest competition comes, unsurprisingly, from Norway. Their women's team consists of Lotta Udnes Weng and Kristine Stavås Skistad.
Poromaa rests – Halfvarsson gets the chance
The Swedish men's team consists of Edvin Anger and Calle Halfvarsson. William Poromaa will therefore have to sit out, and focus on Thursday's men's relay instead.
William has absolutely been considered, but then he has an important day on Thursday as well, continues Byström.
Norway is the reigning World Champion, and a big favorite to win again this year. The Norwegian men's team consists of Erik Valnes and Johannes Høsflot Klæbo.
The qualification starts at 11.00, and the finals are at 14.30.
Correction: In an earlier version, the start time for the finals was incorrectly stated.
