The victory also means that Sweden will meet Latvia, fourth in their group, in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
It's going to be a damn tough match, they did beat Canada, says Träff, who normally plays for HV71, in an interview with Hockeynews.se after the match about what to expect against Latvia.
But if Sweden just does what's required, it should work out, according to Träff, who says the junior team's goal is clear:
The expectations in our team are that we're going to take gold, says Träff and tells that he got extra energy in the match from his family arriving in Canada, Ottawa, and the audience.
Sweden took the lead at the beginning of the second period and led 4–1 when it was over. And it was Träff, who turned 19 on New Year's Eve, who led the way by scoring Sweden's first two goals.
The Czech Republic reduced the score after Träff's two goals, 1–2. But within 30 seconds at the end of the second period, Sweden pulled away. First, Felix Unger Sörum made it 3–1, and then Anton Wahlberg made it 4–1.
The Czech Republic scored their second goal at the beginning of the third period, on a penalty shot. But that was it.
Latvia has responded with the biggest upset of the tournament so far, beating gold-tipped Canada 3–2 in the group stage.
The Latvians also won against Germany, but lost the matches against the USA and Finland. Sweden won all four of their group stage matches.
