Norway won by a wide margin ahead of France, and was 43 seconds ahead. Sebastian Samuelsson, on the final stretch, was another 22 seconds behind. This after starting sixth and then picking up second after second in the track and shooting very well. An extra shot in the prone and then a zero in the standing.
It was a great fight there with Germany and the USA above all. I had to go with what I had and I am very happy with how I performed the skeet shooting above all, says Samuelsson.
I thought on the way into the shooting range that if I make my shots, we have a huge opportunity.
In a class of its own
Norway and France were in a class of their own and just like in the premiere relay in Östersund, Norway won before France.
Then we had the chance (to catch up) but today we weren't close. It's just that Norway and France are the two best. But we can't give up, we have to keep fighting and hope that those up front pressure each other into making mistakes.
Uphill straight away
It was an uphill climb for Sweden already on the first stretch when Jesper Nelin fired five extra shots and let Malte Stefansson go a minute after the lead. Stefansson managed to escape with two extra shots and when he handed over to Martin Ponsiluoma he had 40 seconds to the podium.
Martin Ponsiluoma was as fast as usual on the track, having the second best time. He also shot well, only needing one extra shot standing during his leg and was able to hand over to Sebastian Samuelsson just six seconds to the podium. Samuelsson was the fastest on skis on the final leg.
