Bejmer finished second in the final of the season-ending knockout sprint, which was held in the city center of Uster, Switzerland. It was enough to keep the challenger Kasper Fosser, Norway, behind him in the overall standings.
It's a personal record in knockout by far and I do it on a day like this when it means the most. Extremely big, says Max Peter Bejmer.
Before the final, the Swede led the overall standings with nine points down to total third Fosser. A choice of path at the end of the track made it possible for Bejmer to finish ahead of Fosser and secure the overall victory. Tino Polsini, Switzerland, won the final.
It was a successful move. I felt almost beaten from the start, says Bejmer.
The Czech Tomas Krivda was overall second before Sunday and six points behind Bejmer, but he was eliminated in the semifinal.
In the women's final, Hanna Lundberg and Vilma von Krusenstierna finished sixth and seventh respectively.
