Jesper Svensson was in the best possible position to take home his second European Tour title during his debut season. After leading from the first day, the 28-year-old had a stroke to go to the nearest pursuer ahead of Sunday.
But when it was time to decide, he failed to hold the game together.
The Swede opened directly with a bogey, but followed it up with a birdie immediately. The same on the fifth and sixth holes respectively.
But it was on the seventh hole that the real problems arose. Svensson missed the drive out into the thick rough at Le Golf National, and didn't manage to get the ball out on the second shot either.
Another bogey, and this time there was no comeback.
Svensson finished the day at five over par, and plummeted on the leaderboard to 27th place with a total score of eight under par.
Instead, the best Swede was Simon Forsström (–12), who finished in tenth place.
The winner was Englishman Dan Bradbury at –16.
