"It is often talked about the reading crisis, but we know relatively little about how and what Swedes actually read", says the association's CEO Mikaela Zabrodsky in a press release.
This year, 1,003 interviews with people aged 18-84 have been conducted. This year's report shows, for example, that young people between 18 and 29 years old read less than other age groups, but also that 86 percent of them want to read more than they do.
36 percent of the respondents read printed books at least a few times a week. The corresponding figures for other formats are all lower, such as e-books (5.5 percent) and audiobooks (16 percent).
