+ Record chance
Two years ago, Philadelphia and Kansas City met in the Super Bowl, in a close match that the "Chiefs" eventually won. It marked the start of the title streak that Kansas City can now write into the record books.
They can become the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowls. With star Patrick Mahomes leading the way, they are seen as narrow favorites according to the betting market.
+ Swift hysteria – again
In the summer of 2023, rumors began to circulate that world star Taylor Swift had found love in Kansas City star Travis Kelce. And when the season finally got underway, she could be seen cheering on her new boyfriend from the VIP stands.
When the team then made it all the way to the Super Bowl, almost all the headlines revolved around Swift instead of the match itself. Something that created irritation among many fans, while also drawing in many new viewers.
Much suggests that this year's final could be similar, as she has also been frequently spotted at matches this season.
+ Millions for luxury suite
It's not just the match itself that creates headlines – the economy is also in play, with enormous sums of money changing hands.
Not least on the ticket front, where several media outlets report that the cheapest ticket on the secondary market is going for around 40,000 Swedish kronor.
If you'd rather have a luxury suite, you'll need to spend around 8 million kronor, at least. The most expensive ones go for up to 20 million kronor.
+ Advertising sport – for 80 million
The large sums don't stop at the luxury suites.
If a company wants to buy 30 seconds of advertising time and reach over 100 million people in front of the screens, it will have to pay 80 million kronor – an increase of around 10 million from last year.
+ Noted rapper in halftime show
A few days ago, Kendrick Lamar won five Grammys, and at this year's Super Bowl, he'll be the main act in the halftime show. By his side as a special guest will be another Grammy winner, SZA.
Lamar, who was part of the halftime show in 2022, has made headlines in recent years regarding his "dispute" with rap star Drake, which has been ongoing for several years. In the past year, the situation escalated, with Lamar accusing Drake of being a "certified pedophile" in a prize-winning song.
+ Increased security after terrorist attack
On New Year's Day, a car drove into the party street Bourbon Street in New Orleans, killing 14 people. The terrorist attack has led to a review of the security planning. Thousands of state and local police officers will be on site during the weekend, as well as personnel from the FBI and Secret Service.
I'm sure this is the safest place to be this weekend, said NFL security chief Cathy Lanier at a press conference.
+ Trump in attendance
As the first sitting president, Donald Trump will watch the Super Bowl live on site.
Star Travis Kelce was asked during the week's press conferences how it would be to have him in attendance.
I think it's a great honor, regardless of who the president is.
Trump's relationship with the NFL is not entirely unproblematic. In 2017, he criticized players in the league who knelt against social injustices during the national anthem.
