The Social Democrats want the Riksdag's Constitutional Committee (KU) to review the actions of Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer (M) over SD member Katja Nyberg's assignments to several transparency councils, following suspicions of drunk driving.

Nyberg has served as a member of the Security Service, Police and Special Investigations' Transparency Council. Last week, the SD requested that she be dismissed from her duties.

However, S believes that Strömmer, as the responsible minister, should have acted. According to the KU report, “at least a week passed from the time the suspicions of a crime became public until she was dismissed.”

That Strömmer did not remove Katja Nyberg from Säpo's transparency council and from the special unit investigating her himself - it is incomprehensible, says S's legal policy spokesperson Teresa Carvalho.

It was during the intervening days that Nyberg was stopped on suspicion of drunk driving and rapid tests indicated possible drug influence. Nyberg has denied the allegations.
