The four new years have started without so much sleep, but it feels very good, says Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (AP) in Oslo.
He says that he is satisfied with the social democratic party's election campaign and that he takes the responsibility very seriously. The other parties he thinks he will talk to in turn.
I think people should be able to sleep in and rest too. And then we will go to the Storting, where it is natural to find broad solutions that are in line with good practice.
"No one decides alone"
The Labour Party is expected to continue to govern Norway on its own, just as it has done recently. But this must be done with support from other parties.
I take it seriously, there is no one who decides alone, says Støre.
Under my leadership, we are an open and respectful party.
The red-green parties have announced various demands to support a Støre government ahead. Among other things, it is about efforts for the environment, increased child allowance, significant tax relief for low- and middle-income earners, and that the Norwegian oil fund will continue to reduce its cooperation with Israel.
Hopes for Stoltenberg
The Prime Minister is asked at the press conference about the Finance Minister - and former NATO chief - Jens Stoltenberg will continue to be part of the government.
I will talk to all my ministers. I hope to get Jens to continue, he says.
Stoltenberg has previously stated to Norwegian TV2 that he is motivated to continue.
The Labour Party won the last election, flanked by the Centre Party and the Socialist Left. However, the Socialist Left then decided to refrain from joining the government because the parties did not agree on important issues.
In January this year, the Centre Party also broke off the cooperation with the Labour Party due to dissatisfaction with the EU line. Since then, the Labour Party has governed on its own.
