The increase was otherwise broad with the majority of the companies on the OMXS30 list on the plus side. Among the major winners are the engineering companies Atlas Copco, ABB and Assa Abloy, up 1.5, 1.6 and 2.0 percent respectively.
The first-mentioned after the Dutch semiconductor company ASML, a customer of Atlas Copco, released quarterly figures during the morning.
Investor, a major shareholder in ABB and Atlas Copco, rises simultaneously 1.5 percent.
Best among the major companies was the heat pump manufacturer Nibe, up 2.5 percent.
The defense company Saab, another Investor company, continues to perform poorly. The share fell back 4.5 percent on Wednesday and is down 10 percent over the past month.
Telecom giant Ericsson, which reported a surge of 18 percent on Tuesday, closed at a loss of 1.4 percent.
Around Europe, it was a mixed bag. The Paris stock exchange rose 2.1 percent while London and Frankfurt fell back, minus 0.3 and 0.1 percent respectively.
The krona weakened slightly against the dollar and the euro. One dollar is traded for 9.47 kronor and one euro costs 11.02 kronor.
