It is indeed no major agreement that the Tenants' Association has signed with Järfälla municipality, only 5,600 apartments, but it is the first in Stockholm County and can set the trend, hopes the association.
The rent increase will be 1.5 percent for 2026.
"Järfällahus has taken into account that many households have had it tough economically in recent years and now we hope that more landlords will follow", says the association's negotiator Sanna Kolk in a written comment.
Previously, the Tenants' Association has signed a larger agreement in Gothenburg which landed higher, 2.9 percent.
Both agreements are significantly lower compared to the previous year.
This year, the rents rose by an average of 4.7 percent, last year by 5.0 percent and the year before that just over 4 percent, according to the Statistics Sweden. The years before that, the rent increases were between 1 and 2 percent per year.
