When the tennis tour now announces next year's schedule, it comes with a number of changes compared to how it looks this year, and one of the tournaments that is most affected is the Stockholm Open.
From being decided in October this year and after the tournaments in Asia, the tournament in 2026 will move and be played for the first time in mid-November. This puts it between the important Masters 1,000 tournament in Paris and the final in Turin, Italy, where the eight best players qualify.
Traditionally, the tournament in Paris attracts the very best players on the tennis tour, and players who are qualified for the final often choose to rest the week before the final is decided. The date change could therefore, in theory, make it even harder for the Stockholm Open to attract star players. Last year, they had, among others, Grigor Dimitrov from Bulgaria, Casper Ruud from Norway, and Tommy Paul from the USA, in the starting field. All three are currently ranked among the 15 best in the world.
For Sweden's second tournament, Båstad, there are no changes. Just like before, it will be decided the week after Wimbledon, that is, in July.
