Two former acting presidents in South Korea, former Prime Minister Han Duck-Soo and former Finance Minister Choi Sang-Mok, are banned from traveling, reports the media. They must be available during the investigation of South Korea's former President Yoon Suk-Yeol regarding rebellion and abuse of power.
Both were active within the conservative PPP during the turmoil following the dismissal and impeachment of Yoon. Both also recently resigned from their ministerial posts, Choi in light of a presumed indictment against him.
Yoon Suk-Yeol shocked South Korea when he declared martial law in December last year to protect the country from "communist forces". He was dismissed in early April when the Constitutional Court in an impeachment procedure decided that the declaration did not meet the legal requirements for a national crisis. A criminal trial against him is now underway. If convicted of rebellion, he can be sentenced to life imprisonment or the death penalty.
Next week, elections will be held in South Korea to elect Yoon's successor.
